Angelina Jolie believes a child's personality is already defined at birth - remaining unaltered by the circumstances of their upbringing - and says she has more in common with her adopted son Maddox than her own genetic children.

The actress and mother of six said motherhood had taught her that children are 'who they are when they are born' and in the absence of a serious trauma will grow up to be their own person.

Jolie, 38, who is engaged to Brad Pitt, said: 'I think children are exactly who they are when they're born. And if there is a trauma, it can drastically change who they are.

'If you look at baby photos of our kids, the way they were, the way they looked, what their energy was - whether they were a sweet, elegant, private little person, or a funny, open person, or a bold person - they're still the same.

'There's so much they are born with. And we believe you just have to encourage the individual and support them, but don't get in their way too much.'

Three of Jolie's children are adopted and she said she  was surprised she had more  in common with adopted  son Maddox than her own genetic children.

'You'd think you'd be more similar to the children you have a genetic link with, but I'm not. Maybe one of them, but then I'm very similar to Maddox. So  it doesn't have an impact that some are genetically connected.'

She added: 'We're hoping the kids don't become actors. We want them to do what they're interested in, but we're showing them so many other ideas they won't want to act.'

A talented student at a top New York high school has allegedly committed suicide out of shame for cheating on her German-language exam.

Omotayo Adeoye, 17, was allegedly caught peeking at her cellphone during a test at Harlem's High School for Math, Science and Engineering on Thursday afternoon.

The humiliated teen reportedly ran to the bathroom after being yelled at by her teacher, but never returned to her desk.

Witnesses said they saw the South Bronx resident hand her belongings to a stranger and jump into the Hudson River, forcing herself under water. She has not yet been found. 

 New York Post reported the heartbreaking incident unfolded on Thursday afternoon when Adeoye's teacher Eva Malikova saw her cheating and snatched her phone away.

A male classmate told The Post that Malikova began screaming at Adeoye, 'Oh, you shouldn’t be cheating! You guys shouldn’t be cheating! You guys are lying to yourselves!'

When Adeoye burst into tears and apologized, Malikova reportedly snapped back: 'Oh, you are not really sorry. That’s not a sincere apology!'

The Post reported that law enforcement sources confirmed the harsh exchange.

Before asking to go to the bathroom, the promising senior scrawled a heart wrenching note on her exam: 'I just want to go away forever on the bottom of the river'.

The humiliated teen then walked to the Hudson River’s edge at West 165th Street, put her ID down on the river bank and jumped into the water.

 Witnesses told The Post that it appeared the girl - who can't swim - forced herself down.

New York Daily News reported that witnesses pleaded with the girl to return to shore.

Emergency crews have scoured the river, but have found no sign of the biology whiz.

Adeoye’s mother was too devastated to talk to New York Daily News on Friday night.

'She was a good girl, but I can’t talk about it,' she said.

Malikova has not commented publicly.

A Department of Education spokeswoman told The Post the department would do more to address mental health issues with students.

'We are conducting an investigation into this tragic incident, and we are taking immediate action,' she said.

Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña offered her condolences.

'Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and her school community,' she said  'This must be a call to action.'

A Sudanese woman facing down a death sentence for marrying a Christian will be freed, it has been reported.
Meriam Ibrahim, who gave birth in prison this week, was sentenced to death for abandoning Islam, but is now set to be released in a matter of days.

The news comes after huge international pressure was piled on the Sudanese authorities, with David Cameron, Hillary Clinton and the Archbishop of Canterbury all calling for the sentence to be dropped.

Condemnation: World leaders and celebrity figures piled pressure on Sudan to reverse the sentence

Abdullahi Alazreg, an under-secretary at the foreign ministry, announced the decision to the BBC, saying that Sudan guaranteed religious freedom and was committed to protecting the woman.

However, Mrs Ibrahim's lawyers said they do not believe the offer is genuine, and is a ploy to silence the growing outcry.

Elshareef Ali Mohammed, one of her legal team, told the Telegraph: 'It's to silence the international media. This is what the government do. We will not believe that she is being freed until she walks out of the prison'.

Mrs Ibrahim, 27, was thrown in jail in September and earlier this month was sentenced to death for apostasy and adultery for marrying Daniel Wani, a Christian Sudanese man with U.S. citizenship who lives in Manchester, New Hampshire.

In her new memoir, Unbreak My Heart, Toni Braxton reveals her guilt about an abortion and that wonders if her youngest son being diagnosed with autism is a punishment from God.

The New York Daily News reports that in the book, which was released on Tuesday, May 20, the singer wrote that she “believed that God’s payback was to give my son autism.” Braxton also writes that she wonders if her lupus and her parents’ divorce might also be part of God’s retribution for her abortion. 

The R&B singer was pregnant with her first child 10 years ago, by now-husband Keri Lewis. She writes that she was in the midst of a 60-day cycle of Accutane, an anti-acne drug that can have severe side-effects on a fetus, but that she likely would have terminated the pregnancy anyway.

 Braxton further reveals that she grew up in a religious home, where she was not allowed to wear pants, was directed to memorize 26 scriptures a week and fasting was observed during Lent. She indicates that Bible study was prized over school, and that her studies in the latter were neglected in favor of religious education.

Can Watching too Much Porn Destroy Your Brain?

A new German study has discovered a link between watching too much porn and reduced brain activity.
The study, published in JAMA Psychiatry, asked 64 men aged 21 to 45 about how many hours of porn they watched each week. Researchers then measured the volume of the subjects’ gray matter, and used MRI techniques to see how their brains reacted to pornographic images. The men who watched the most porn were found to have less gray matter volume than the men who viewed less porn.
The study also found that “pornography consumption… could reflect change in neural plasticity as a consequence of an intense stimulation of the reward system.” In other words, the part of the brain involved in processing rewards was smaller in the men who viewed the most porn. However, the jury is out whether watching porn is causing these changes in the brain, or whether people born with these brain characteristics just like watching porn more than someone with a “normal” brain.
Maybe your mother was right after all— too much porn can be bad for your health.

Mercedes Doesn’t Want You To Forget Its Autonomous Car Development: Video

This week Google unveiled its first car, a prototype autonomous vehicle devoid of a steering wheel and brakes yet capable of transporting passengers at speeds of up to 25 mph. Like most fully autonomous cars, Google’s prototype can only travel on pre-set routes but the plan is to eventually have the cars take its occupants to any given location around town.

Google has received a lot of attention for its autonomous car development, likely because of its size and progress in the area as well as the fact that it's one of the key players outside the auto industry working on the technology. However, that doesn’t mean the major automakers are behind the curve.

One of the leaders is Mercedes-Benz, which was the first automaker to launch a car with autonomous steering capability in the form of its 2014 S-Class sedan. But this is just the start as Mercedes is working on a fully autonomous car, just like Google, and even presented its own prototype last year.

The prototype, called the S500 INTELLIGENT DRIVE, was the first car in history to conduct a fully autonomous road trip. It traveled the roughly 60 miles between Mannheim and Pforzheim in Germany, retracing a route taken by motoring pioneer Bertha Benz more than 125 years ago when she set off on the world’s first long-distance drive.

Mercedes hopes to have the system ready for production by 2020, the same year another automaker, Nissan, hopes to have its own fully autonomous technology ready for sale. What’s still needed are complex maps that the autonomous car can use to guide its way, using information such as the number and direction of traffic lanes and traffic signs as well as the positions of traffic lights. Digital maps of this kind are a key prerequisite for autonomous driving, Mercedes says. Then of course there’s the legislative environment to deal with, which could ultimately prove the hardest hurdle to cross.

Angry Supercar Hater Throws Rocks At Lamborghini Aventador: Video

This is one of those moments of intolerance the world could really do without.

The scene: A Lamborghini Aventador runs through the revs, but appears to be under 60 mph when a man walks into the street. The Aventador driver slows, and the man, chanting “Keep racing! Keep racing!” while brandishing a large rock, approaches the car.

As the Aventador slowly edges past, the man blasts the side of the Lamborghini with the rock, then hurls another.

The video ends there, but this guy’s completely uncalled for idiocy and violence will live on forever on the web.

Sure, the guy may have had a point—the street is no place to uncork the full potential of any car, much less a supercar like the Aventador—but the answer is not public stoning.

These are the kind of rage-fueled moves that turn normal traffic incidents into vicious accidents; the kind that turn a bar fight into a murder investigation.

If you want to keep “racers!” off your street, call the cops, call the city council and have a speed bump installed, whatever. Just don’t do what this guy did.

Female Student Infects 324 Men With HIV As Revenge!

A female student from Nakura in Kenya, who studies at Kabarak University, has disclosed that she has infected a total of 324 men with the AIDS causing virus – Human Immunodeficiency (HIV). She has apparently got infected with the dreaded virus at a party by a man. Now this girl wants revenge and is planning to infect at least 2000 healthy men.
If new reports are to be believed this girl, whose identity is not yet known confessed on Facebook through Kenyan Scandals. She called them with the claim that she had something to reveal. She wanted her identity protected. Once she got this assurance she stated that it all happened on 22nd of September 2013, a day she said she would never forget. She said she had gone to the club in town with some senior friends and got drunk. They all returned to the hostels to continue partying there. She woke up the next morning and realized that a boy named Javan had sexual intercourse with her. She had been completely out as she was drunk.
But the Kenyan Daily Post did reveal her identity perhaps in the interest of the innocent people around. The paper published a photo of her profile on Facebook along with the article.
She had asked Javan that morning, if he had had a condom on and Javan had assured her that he had indeed taken the precaution. But later when she was in the shower she realized there was some semen down there. She became very frightened that she might either get pregnant or get infected by some disease like HIV. She was so terrified that she even contemplated suicide.
Her world came shattering down when she tested HIV positive. When confronted Javan said he was clean and that she might have got the infection from someone else. The girl then went into depression and started drinking. She even contemplated consuming poison as she did not know how to face the world. She had obviously let her parents down badly. So she wanted to take her life and end all the suffering.
Soon she started thinking that her future was actually ruined by some man and someone had to pay for it. She started accepting her situation for what it was but promised to herself that she will make all the men out there suffer. She knew she was very hot and attractive. Both married and unmarried men anyway chased her everywhere. So she quietly buried the good girl within her and took on a different and bad persona. She then aimed at getting as many men as possible infected with HIV.
She now claims to have passed on the infection to 324 men. Around 156 of them are students at her university and the rest are lawyers, celebrities, politicians, lecturers and other married men. According to her she has sex with at least four people in a day. Her aim is to infect at least 2000 men as she believes that they destroyed her life and she has to go after them with the weapon she has – HIV.

Girl 'raped by 38 men' in Malaysia

Almost 3,000 rapes were reported to the police in Malaysia in 2012, of which 52 percent involved girls below 16.

Malaysian police have detained 13 men and are looking for other suspects following allegations that a 15-year-old girl was raped by 38 men in the country's northern region, Reuters news agency says quoting local media.

Astro Awani television and The Star daily reported that the assault took place in the northern state of Kelantan on May 20 when the girl was lured to an empty hut reported to be a local drug haunt.
The men took turns to rape her for hours. Police were also investigating whether her 17-year-old friend was also raped.

Media accounts, quoting information from district police chief Azham Otham, said 38 men were involved.

Several of those detained had tested positive for amphetamine, the reports said. The New Straits Times said a man and his two teenage sons were among those detained.

Police said action could have been taken had villagers reported the addicts' presence.
"It is very disturbing to me that no one in the village was even suspicious when the closest neighbour was a mere 20 metres away," Otham told The Star newspaper.

'Extremely worrying'
The alleged attack, one of several brutal cases this week underscoring the violence to which women are being subjected across Asia, sparked outrage among women's groups.

Politicians from a Muslim party running the region said their proposal to introduce Islamic hudud law, with harsh penalties, would deter offenders.

Suri Kempe, an official with women's rights group Sisters in Islam, told Reuters that the frequent number of rape cases being reported was "extremely worrying".

"Boys are being raised in a culture where being masculine means being aggressive, and that it's perfectly acceptable to use violence to get what you want," she said in a statement.

Almost 3,000 rapes were reported to the police in Malaysia in 2012, of which 52 percent involved girls aged 16 and below, according to police statistics.
Convicted rapists face up to 30 years in prison and whipping, but many have called for stricter punishment.

LUCKNOW, India: Police say three men have been arrested in northern India for brutally attacking the mother of a rape victim after she refused to withdraw her police complaint.

Superintendent Dinesh Kumar said Friday the men, including the father of the man accused in the May 11 rape, followed the mother into a field and beat her severely.

She was in critical condition in a hospital in Etawah, a small town in Uttar Pradesh state.
Meanwhile, investigators sought clues in a gang-rape elsewhere in the state that left two teenage cousins dead.

The cousins were raped and killed Wednesday by attackers who then hung their bodies from a mango tree. Angry villagers held a silent protest over alleged police inaction in the case.
Four men have been arrested, including two police officers.

LAHORE, Pakistan: The husband of a pregnant Pakistani woman bludgeoned to death outside a courthouse murdered his first wife, he told AFP on Thursday, in a twist to a story that has shocked rights activists.
Farzana Parveen was murdered on Tuesday outside the High Court in the eastern city of Lahore by more than two dozen attackers, including her brother and father, for marrying against her family’s wishes.
The brazen, brutal nature of the killing, in broad daylight in the center of Pakistan’s second largest city, has triggered outrage around the world.
Now Parveen’s husband Mohammad Iqbal, 45, has admitted killing his first wife.

Pakistani human rights activists hold placards as they chant slogans during a protest in Islamabad on Thursday against the killing of pregnant woman Farzana Parveen, who was beaten to death with bricks by members of her own family for marrying a man of her own choice in Lahore.

 “I was in love with Farzana and killed my first wife because of this love,” adding that he had strangled her.
Iqbal said he was spared a prison term because his son — who alerted police to the murder — later forgave him under Pakistan’s controversial blood-money laws.
After admitting to the murder he switched off his phone and did not respond to further calls.

 Rights groups have expressed fears the same blood-money laws that spared Iqbal could be used to pardon Parveen’s killers.

Zulfiqar Hameed, a senior police officer investigating the killing of Parveen, said police would be filing a report to the government later on tonight detailing Iqbal’s past.

“Iqbal was a notorious character and he had murdered his first wife six years ago. A police case was lodged against him and he was on the run for many weeks,” Hameed said.

“He was arrested and later released after a compromise with his family.”

According to Iqbal, a farmer from the Jaranwala district of Punjab, Parveen’s family had initially agreed to their marriage but they had later fallen out because they wanted a greater amount in dowry.
Last year 869 women died in so-called “honor killings” according to the independent Human Rights Commission of Pakistan.

As he watched his wife visibly shake in anticipation of the pain associated with her breastfeeding (the pain only because she was having some trouble with breastfeeding) he wondered to himself if he would feed his baby if he could – and from that was born the idea of “If I could, I would” a slogan that accompanies the amazing photographs that Hector is taking of men with their babies.

The role of the father

Cruz says, “It’s evolved into trying to get education and support for fathers and helping them understand how crucial and what a vital role they actually play in the breastfeeding role with their spouses and their children. You see, as fathers, we think our role is to figure out what the best car seat is, to figure out what the best carrier or stroller is, have the right car and make sure we put up the crib and get everything in order, but our roles go so much further than that. This project is really helping them, it’s getting education to those men to make them better fathers and husbands.”

Studies show that if a breastfeeding mum has a partner or significant other who is educated about, and supports her choice to breastfeed she is much more likely to be successful. And in turn the studies show that dads who know more about breast-feeding are better able to encourage their wives or partners.
Whatever the studies say, no one can deny that babies benefit from love and nurturing. To see fathers involved at such a level is to see true love at work.

Wife of MH370 passenger, finds ‘ping’ news difficult to process

THE Perth wife of a passenger on ill-fated Malaysia Airlines flight 370 says she has difficulty processing news that searchers have given up on an area of the Indian Ocean where acoustic “pings” were detected. 

Underwater drone Bluefin-21 has completed its scouring of the zone off the West Australian coast where the man-made sounds were picked up, and come up with nothing.

A massive broadening of the search area is now expected, based on a fresh analysis of data that led British satellite firm Inmarsat to conclude the plane crashed in the southern Indian Ocean.

New Zealander Danica Weeks, whose mechanical engineer husband, Paul, had boarded MH370 on his way to start a new job in Mongolia, remains in Perth, where their family moved after the Christchurch earthquakes in 2011.

“When your child cries for their father, it just breaks your heart and I can’t tell them the truth because I don’t know,” Ms Weeks told the Seven Network.

“I still haven’t reconciled that he’s not coming back, because I’ve had nothing.
“When you don’t have anything – not even a piece of the plane, just nothing, and so many different stories – how can you not have a little piece of hope?”

The couple have two boys, Lincoln, 3, and 13-month-old Jack.
