Christian had been jailed accused of witchcraft.
A WOMAN has dropped charges against a maid she accused of sorcery.
The Ethiopian maid showed Abu Dhabi Appeal Court on Thursday how she blessed with a Christian cross – and insisted it was not black magic to curse the Emirati family she worked for.
She also said that a small Christian blessing she kept in a bag was not designed to bring sorcery into the household too.
The employer told the four-judge court that she now accepted the maid’s explanation – and said she wanted to drop all charges.
The Emirati woman said that she and the maid did not get on but added that she did not want the Ethiopian to spend more time in jail.
She spent three days in detention in an Abu Dhabi police station before she was transferred to Al Watba Women’s Prison for two days.
The woman said that she was happy to let the maid move to another family to work.
The maid was acquitted of sorcery in a lower court and prosecutors had been appealing her acquittal.
She was originally arrested at the family home. She left yesterday’s hearing with her employer.
